According to Foot Mercato, Ferland Mendy (28) would like to remain at Real Madrid and fight for his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s team. The former Lyon full-back has found minutes limited under the Italian manager at the Santiago Bernabéu and struggled with injury but still wishes to stay with the La Liga club.

Reports in Spain in recent days had indicated that Los Blancos would be looking to sell Mendy in the summer of 2024. However, this latest development indicates that the French international is happy in the Spanish capital. The 28-year-old completed a move to Real Madrid from Lyon in 2019.

The left-back is a valued figure at Real Madrid and the club would be happy to keep him. Carlo Ancelotti is one of his many admirers at the La Liga club and would not want to see him depart, according to Foot Mercato. Mendy refound some consistency before his injury and even saw himself called up to Les Bleus duty before having to withdraw.
