Figo: I'm very happy that I decided to join Real Madrid from Barcelona

Luis Figo has no regrets about making his controversial move from Barcelona to Real Madrid in 2000.

The deal caused outrage in Catalonia at the time and the Portuguese was at the centre of an intense atmosphere when he returned to play at the Camp Nou, but he wouldn't change anything about what he did.

"I'm very happy with the decision I made," Figo told Fox Sports Brazil on Wednesday.

But it was during his time at Barcelona that he came across the best player he's ever played with, though they were reunited again at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

"Ronaldo Nazario impressed me the most," he said.

"Both at Barcelona and at Real Madrid.

"When he didn't have a lot of injuries at Barcelona he showed his quality.

"He didn't need to do much to make a difference, that's why he was special."

Figo's compatriot Jorge Jesus is now coaching in Brazil and the former Real Madrid midfielder regrets never working with him during his playing days.

"He's one of the coaches I admire the most," Figo added.

"For everything he did, not just in Portugal but in all the countries he passed through.

"I was never lucky enough to work with him, but I have a curiosity.

"He's a top coach."
