It all comes down to this. The cream of European football, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, battling it out for the most coveted club prize of them all: the UEFA Champions League trophy.
This meeting is just the second Champions League final in history between a French and Italian team, and the last one in 1993 between Marseille and AC Milan was, coincidentally, also in Munich, with the French underdogs earning a 1-0 victory courtesy of Basile Boli on that occasion.
PSG could win the Champions League for the first time ever
How Luis Enrique and his team would love to emulate their countrymen and become the first PSG side in history to win the trophy.
Having already romped to the Ligue 1 title and having landed the French Cup, adding the Champions League would truly make this a vintage season for the Parisiens.

Inter, meanwhile, have an immediate opportunity to get over the disappointment of losing out on the Serie A title.
In both cases, goalkeepers have been vital to the cause, with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Yann Sommer excelling themselves this season.
The Italian and the Swiss only conceded 35 goals apiece in league play, which is an incredible stat that has been largely overlooked thanks to outfield players hitting the high notes and, therefore, writing the headlines.
Donnarumma has had quite the season already
At 26, Donnarumma is the younger of the two custodians by a decade, so it could be said that the former AC Milan man hasn't yet come close to reaching his peak.
That's a scary thought if you dwell on it. He's had quite the season already, too.

Forgetting the multiple occasions where he's saved his side just for a moment, only five months ago, he had his face sliced open accidentally by Monaco player Wilfried Singo's boot.
Now sporting a permanent scar on his right cheek, the Italian could've allowed that injury to affect his judgment in certain situations, or his mental state more generally, but to his credit, it's as if nothing ever happened.
Under-the-radar performance against Liverpool was still heroic
Impressively, 34 of his 90 saves have come in the Champions League, giving him a healthy 70.2% stat in this regard - even better than his output in the league.
Who can forget some of the stops he pulled off against Liverpool in this season's competition, too, not to mention holding his nerve in the shoot-out to knock out the pre-tournament favourites.

Even that performance went a little under the radar thanks to Alisson's heroics at the opposite end, though that's likely to suit Donnarumma just fine.
The Reds shouldn't have been surprised, of course, after his penalty heroics for his country helped them to win the European Championship against England.
A giant between the posts
Comfortable on the ball, as all keepers need to be in this day and age, the Italian has an unbeatable 100% record for keeper sweepings, though Inter might want to take note of his penchant for punching the ball away in this competition. 13 of his total of 18 punches in 2024/25 have come in the Champions League.

He's a young man who doesn't court publicity but finds it invariably comes his way because of the high standards that he sets for himself. Like all of the very best sportsmen, he lets his talent do the talking for him.
At 6ft 4in, he's a giant between the sticks, and he'll take some beating on Saturday night.
Sommer's career renaissance at Inter
Sommer is enjoying something of a late career renaissance at Inter, and he's absolutely played the fullest part in their recent successes.
As with his contemporary, his best night this season also came in the Champions League, across the two incredible legs of the semi-final against Barcelona.
Twice he went full length to deny Lamine Yamal, and was equal to another shot late in the game that would've sealed the Catalans' progression at Inter's expense.
A magnificent team effort from the Nerazzurri still doesn't get its rewards if Sommer isn't there to pull off - and let's call them what they were - truly world-class saves.
It was right that he would earn UEFA's Man of the Match for a stellar, match-winning performance.
An unsung Nerazzurri hero
Though Sommer has more than earned the shirt at Inter, he does remain an unsung hero.
Nine seasons spent traversing the Swiss league were followed by another nine at Borussia Monchengladbach, before half a season at Bayern Munich, where he replaced an injured Manuel Neuer and helped the Bavarians to another Bundesliga title.
Joining Inter at the start of August 2023, he went on to win the Scudetto in his first season, and did so by keeping the most clean sheets in the league.

He has further cemented his position by having another outstanding Serie A season and is now, like Donnarumma, on the cusp of history and in with a chance of winning his first-ever Champions League title.
Goals win games... but so do goalkeepers!
It's often said that goals win games, less so that goalkeepers do, but that could all change soon enough.
With so much at stake and nothing to choose between the two teams, don't be at all surprised if either stopper has their name up in lights at the end of Saturday's showpiece.
