Former Barca player Cucurella: It will be special to return to the Camp Nou

Many players count down the days before visiting the Camp Nou with excitement and nerves, which is exactly what Marc Cucurella will be doing this week as he prepares to return home.

The left-back, who currently plays with Eibar, returns to his former club this weekend after being loaned out in June of 2018.

Since the transfer, he has become a regular starter for his new club.

The Catalan wants to continue with his good form and there would be no better way to do it than against his home team.

"I'm excited to play against Barcelona, as is the whole team," he said.

"It's going to be special for me and my family."

Eibar have a good record against the big clubs of Spanish football this season, having drawn with Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano and having defeated Real Madrid at Ipurua.

Now Cucurella trusts that the team can do something similar in Barcelona.

"This year we had good results against difficult teams and away from home we are playing good football," he said.

"We just need to finish the chances to get the three points.

"If we concentrate a lot then I think we can get something positive."

The Spaniard then went on to explain that it's important not underestimate a team with as much talent as the Blaugrana.

"Barcelona have one of the best squads in Europe and they are full of very complete players both on the pitch and on the bench," he said.

"If we give the best of ourselves and hope for a bit of luck then we can get something out of it."

Cucurella and his teammates will visit the Camp Nou on Sunday for a match that kicks off at 18:30 CET.
