Joan Gaspart, who served as the president of Barcelona from July 2000 to February 2003, has always been outspoken when facing the media. The former Barcelona president admitted to having a lighthearted conversation with Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo after the Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.
In this first leg of the Champions League quarter-final, Atletico defeated the Blaugrana. After the match, Gaspart exchanged views with the Atletico president on Barcelona's intention to introduce Alvarez. The Argentinian forward is an important target for Barcelona's management in the next season's transfer window.
When directly asked about Alvarez, Gaspart said on the program "Solo para cules": "We didn't talk (with the Atletico president) about the referee. The only thing I did was speak to them in English, so that they get used to it, and that's how I'll speak to their boss in the future (mocking Atletico's "foreign capital background")."
Gaspart continued, "I already have a negotiation plan in mind. As for cash, it won't exceed 40 or 50 million euros, and the rest will be offset by a Barcelona player. Pay 100 million euros in cash? He (Cerezo) won't get it, unless I'm dead. I will never allow this to happen because he is not worth 100 million euros.
"Then I had to say to my friend, President Cerezo: 'Okay, you've enjoyed this player, but he will eventually belong to us.'"
Gaspart revealed Barcelona's firm intention to sign the Argentinian forward.

Useless statement, a player Athletico bought 84m ponds and he's still doing very you are saying he didn't worth 100m Europe. They know how to put a 1billion europe buyout clause on their players but they don't want another team player well.
