Luis Enrique is set to be announced as the new PSG manager this week, replacing Christophe Galtier at the club.

The former Spain and Barcelona boss is expected to sign a two-year deal ahead of a crucial 12 months in the club’s recent history.

Enrique, who was sacked by the Spanish national team after their disappointing World Cup in December, will try and mend a fractured dressing room reeling from a series of morale damaging revelations.

In just the last month Kylian Mbappe has annouced his intention to refuse a contract renewal and leave on a free transfer, Lionel Messi had a dig in his parting messages after leaving the club and rumours of widespread unrest have left stars like Achraf Hakimi hankering for  a move away.

Despite winning the side’s record 11th Ligue 1 title last season, current boss Galtier has endured a joyless year-long stint in charge. And as a result, according to Le Parisien, Enrique will be installed at the helm of the Parc des Princes club as early as Wednesday this week.

In hiring the 53-year-old PSG will get their hands on one of football’s elite coaches coming off an international management sojourn of four years.

During his time with the national team, Enrique led La Roja to the semi-final of Euro 2020 and the Nationals League final in 2020-21. But the last-16 defeat to Morocco in Qatar last December marked the end of his time in charge.

Before that the ex-Barcelona and Real Madrid forward led the Catalans to their first post-Pep Guardiola Champions League during a remarkable treble winning campaign in 2015.

Enrique's roster was spearheaded by the fearsome trio of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar, who he will reunite with in Paris.

The Brazilian joined the side in the French capital in the same summer of 2017 that Enrique stepped down as the Barcelona boss.
