Massimiliano Mirabelli claims Li Yonghong wanted to sack Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso last season, whereas “I tried to defend him in every way.”
Gattuso found himself under early pressure at Milan and Mirabelli admitted things almost came to a head after the Rossoneri’s 3-0 defeat to Verona in December 2017.
“The Chinese pressed to get rid of Rino, whom I tried to defend in every way,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I tried to support him too.”
Li left the Diavolo last summer after he defaulted on a loan to buy the club, while the Coach has since led the side to third place in Serie A and the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
