Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Buyo: I’m better than Casillas, but not Valdés

In a personal test program called "El Cafelito", former Real Madrid goalkeeper Buyo was asked to compare himself with goalkeepers from different eras. From his answer, it can be seen that he believes that former Barcelona goalkeeper Valdes is better than Real Madrid goalkeeper Casillas.

The program asked Buyo, "At your peak, were you better than Casillas?" Buyo replied, "Yes, without a doubt." When asked, "And how about compared to Valdes?", Buyo frankly stated, "On that point, I would rank Valdes a little ahead of me."

The former Real Madrid goalkeeper also believes he is better than Navas and German goalkeeper Kahn, reasoning that "my footwork is much better than theirs."

He also believes he is better than current Spanish national team starter Simon and Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen, although his tone was relatively conservative when commenting on Ter Stegen: "I think I'm still a bit stronger." Regarding current Barcelona goalkeeper Garcia, Buyo said, "Currently, I'm stronger; it depends on how high he can reach in the future."

Buyo believes he is on par with Argentina's World Cup-winning goalkeeper Martinez, Bayern Munich, and German national team legend Neuer.

Among all goalkeepers, Buyo explicitly admitted that he is inferior to two people: one is Buffon, the Italian World Cup-winning goalkeeper, and the other is Courtois, the current first-choice goalkeeper for Real Madrid: "He is much better than me, above me."
