Gavi is a star and he's only 17

Gavi has been a key player for Barcelona and the Spanish national team for the last six months and he only turns 18 in 166 days, a frightening remember of just how good he can become.

At Mestalla, he again ran the show in midfield, working tirelessly off the ball and providing class on it, with an assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's second goal.

Xavi Hernandez took him off on 80 minutes, but only to give him a rest.

The front pages will be dominated by Aubameyang, who scored two goals, but Gavi's performance was spectacular. He was everywhere and every decision he made was the right one, even to assist his team's third goal.

They called Luis Enrique crazy for calling up a 17-year-old boy who had just made his debut in LaLiga Santander but time, and the player, are proving everyone wrong.

The full-back helped unlock the Valencia defence with two killer passes, the first for Aubameyang to make it 1-0 and the second to Ousmane Dembele to assist Frenkie de Jong for 2-0. They were the kind of passes he would provide to Leo Messi.

His best years are over, but he handles the trade of a centre forward like few other players in this league. His first two shots on goal were converted into goals with ease. The first with a one-on-one and the second with a striker's tap-in. A great signing for Barcelona in times of crisis.

Does anyone doubt Dembele now? The player who was going to stay in the stands for six months is now a starter. Xavi has had to change his mind about Dembele, as the fight for a Champions League spot is crucial.
