Valencia captain Gaya gave an interview to the club's official website, discussing several topics about the new season.

On the team

"In football, physical fitness is becoming increasingly important. A team that is more united, moving in the same direction, giving their all, and performing to their best, can achieve higher levels. A team that acts more like a cohesive unit, more like a team, often wins matches. For us, we must be like a big family, and this is what we must strive for from the very beginning."

On pre-season preparations

"It always takes some time to get into shape, but with training, we gradually feel better and better."

On the new season

"We have three matches at the start of the season, which we've never experienced before, but we must adapt quickly. Especially the two matches at Mestalla – we must start the season well because it's very important."

On new signings

"In these few days of training, I've seen them perform very well, very engaged, and eager to bring joy to the fans. We are helping them adapt as quickly as possible. Guido is definitely a new signing. He was with the team in the second half of last season, and he helped us a lot, bringing authority and leadership to the midfield. He is a very good player and will definitely help us a great deal."

On the last season at MestallaStadium

"What I mean by ambition is to win more matches at Mestalla, which is our 'sanctuary' and our 'home'. We must show strong performance at Mestalla, especially in its last season. Those glorious past seasons were inseparable from our close connection with the fans and continuous commitment. This is our goal this season – to turn Mestalla into a fortress. This is a special season. We must show greater ambition from the start, because in previous seasons, we struggled in the first half. We must strive from the beginning to reverse the decline of the second half. That's why thorough preparation is so important."

On his 15th season with the Valencia first team

"From a young age, I was instilled with what Valencia Football Club means to me. I came here at 11 and grew up here. I've played with many legends, who were all idols to me, but I never deliberately pursued anything. All of this is just the accumulation of time, and I am very happy about it. I have worn this jersey for many years, which touches me deeply, and for me, there is nothing greater than this. We must cherish everything we have. I have always cherished my time here, because Mestalla and Valencia are my home."

On being captain

"I became captain at a young age because I had been with the club for many seasons. I understand Valencia Football Club and the responsibilities and obligations of being captain. I will do my best to take on this responsibility and do my best."
