The 68-year-old revealed the kind gesture on Thursday as the coronavirus crisis threatens to derail the current campaign in Spain.

'Next year all 13,500 season ticket holders will go to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium for free,' Torres told Radio Marca on Thursday.

'We won't charge them, we're going to offer all of them their seats for free for every league game, they won't pay anything at all, it will come out of my pocket if it has to.'

Getafe's announcement comes a day after Atletico Madrid said they would offer their season ticket holders a 20 per cent discount for their passes for the following campaign to compensate for the loss of five matches this season due to the halt in action.

Getafe, who are fifth and are level on points with fourth-place Real Sociedad, are just outside of the Champions League places on goal difference, with 11 games left to play.

While Getafe's players returned to training along with the rest of LaLiga's teams earlier this week, there remains a lot of uncertainty over what the future holds for top-flight football in Spain.

However, LaLiga president Javier Tebas is confident the current campaign WILL get back underway in June.

Players have been tested for coronavirus this week and negative results will allow them to get back to work at their respective training grounds.

The Spanish government relaxed a number of lockdown rules on Monday and the Ministry of Health is permitting athletes to train.

While teams like Eibar have published a letter outlining their concerns about a return, Tebas is hopeful that it will be safe to do so.

Tebas said: 'This crisis has had a profound impact on all of us. The return of football is a sign that society is progressing towards the new normal.

'It will also bring back an element of life that people in Spain and around the world know and love.

'People's health is paramount, so we have a comprehensive protocol to safeguard the health of everyone involved as we work to restart LaLiga.

'Circumstances are unprecedented, but we hope to start playing again in June and finish our 19-20 season this summer.'
