Antoine Griezmann was careful to ensure his slip of the tongue didn't land him in any hot water after stating he would love to play alongside Paul Pogba every day.
Griezmann and Pogba interviewed each other on TV channel Canal Plus while on international duty with France and both spoke about their friendship.
The pair were speaking about their time spent together with Les Bleus when Pogba said: 'If we could have this every day...'
'That would be beautiful to play alongside you and win trophies' responded Atletico Madrid striker Griezmann.
But then he quickly backtracked by saying: 'But be careful! That doesn't mean I want to go to Manchester United.'
Griezmann was close to moving to Old Trafford in the summer before Atletico Madrid's transfer ban scuppered the potential transfer.
The 27-year-old admitted at one point that there was a six out of 10 chance that he'd join United but later penned a new deal to remain in the Spanish capital.
Reports suggest Griezmann already has a deal in place to join Barcelona in the summer despite Atletico's attempts to tie their talisman down to a renewed contract.
The striker's £193,000-a-week wages were thought to be a stumbling block but he is reportedly willing to take a pay cut in order to move to the Nou Camp.
Griezmann and Pogba were both involved on Friday night for France as they threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to Columbia.
The Atletico Madrid man played 83 minutes of the World Cup warm-up in Paris while Pogba came on as a 65th-minute substitute.
Didier Deschamps' men are back in action on Tuesday evening when they face World Cup hosts Russia in Saint Petersburg.
