Harry Kane reveals David Beckham Man United inspiration for 'perfect' £100m exit

The former Spurs star claims Bayern Munich is the 'perfect club' for him following his move to the Bundesliga

Former Tottenham striker Harry Kane has claimed that Manchester United legend and ex-England international David Beckham inspired his move to Bayern Munich over the summer.

The 30-year-old made the switch from the Premier League to the Bundesliga just a day before Spurs' domestic campaign got underway and has already started loving life in Germany.

Having already netted three goals and found an assist in his first two matches in the German top-flight, Kane became just the third player in the club's history to start off in such fashion, the last being Adolfo Valencia in 1993.

Getting off to such a good start means Kane hopes he can be someone for the upcoming talent in England to look up to and follow in the footsteps of in terms of going abroad to develop their football.

"Maybe my journey here can be an inspiration for the younger [English] players to do the same and take that step," Kane told German outlet BILD (via Marca).

"I remember David Beckham making the move from Manchester United to Real Madrid. I was a kid and I was like, 'Wow, what an amazing experience.' Maybe I took Beckham as an example.

"I always wanted to see a different league, a different atmosphere. So far everything is going very well: on and off the pitch. I admired Robert Lewandowski when he was a young player, he took a fantastic path and set incredible records.

"I want to reach his level, and maybe even better."

Throughout his time in England, Kane was revered for his goalscoring and while he was able to win many individual awards including Golden Boots in both the Premier League and at the World Cup, they were never good enough to bring trophies to Spurs.

And while his first go at silverware once again ended in failure at Bayern after their 3-0 loss in the DFL-Supercup, he's ready to fight for titles and for the Champions League.

"I felt that it was time to take the next step in my career. I wanted this experience, to fight for titles, for the Champions League and playing for a club as big as Bayern is an incredible challenge.

"Bayern is the perfect club for me. I feel like I can compete in any league, in any country. Mr. [Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge [the former Bayern Munich CEO] explained to me how the club is run and how important the fans are.

"That the club is like a family: at the club almost everyone knows each other. The friction with the fans is enormous. But he also explained to me how great the pressure is at Bayern."
