According to Romano, Ter Stegen has joined Ajax on loan, with Ajax covering most of his salary. The deal has received "Here We Go" confirmation.

Ter Stegen to Ajax — the deal is done! Barcelona and the player have reached an agreement in principle. Ter Stegen will join Ajax on loan until the end of June 2027, with Ajax covering most of his salary."

The 32-year-old Ter Stegen played for Girona on loan during the second half of the 2025-26 season. The German goalkeeper's contract with Barcelona expires in June 2028.
