According to Abendzeitung München, Hoeneß stated that Kane absolutely deserves the Ballon d'Or and expressed hope that he ultimately wins it.
Hoeneß said: "I think giving the Ballon d'Or to Messi again is ridiculous. Kane has performed exceptionally well across all competitions. If he doesn't deserve it this year, when will he? What about Mbappé? They [Real Madrid] didn't win a single trophy—and we won two."
