Zlatan Ibrahimovic could make a sensational return to Serie A when his LA Galaxy contract expires in December, with Bologna believed to be interested in making a shock move for the Swede.

There has been much specualtion regarding what the 38-year-old's next move will be once his deal in LA expires in December, with established Serie A sides such as Napoli and former club Inter Milan touted as possible destinations.

But Italian paper Corriere dello Sport report that the less-renowned Bologna are interested in making a surprise move for the superstar striker on a six-month contract.

The prolific striker has had succesful stints in Serie A with Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan

If Ibrahimovic if he were to make the move to the Rossoblu, he would reunite with old friend and Bologna manager Sinisa Mihajlovic as he battles against leukaemia.

'Mihajlovic is a friend, so if I were to choose Bologna, it'd be just for him. We have spoken recently. He told me: 'Zlatan, here the others would run for you. All you need to do is stay up there and put the ball in the net,'

'I thank him, but it's probably unlikely to happen. If I change my mind, then I'll call him straight away, especially because I could still get 20 goals in Serie A.'

Ibrahimovic's Galaxy set up a MLS play-off semi-final tie with Los Angeles FC on Sunday as they overcame Minnesota United 2-1 at the weekend, and the Swede has been coy on whether he would stay in America or go elsewhere.

'There are no other thoughts, I respect my contract. If I leave you will have less to write about,' said Ibrahimovic in quotes reported by Goal.

'If I stay you will still have something to write about. Let's see what happens. But let's focus on the play-off. I think [my future] is not the right thing to discuss.
