Manchester United will not be held to ransom as they try to defuse Ruben Amorim’s four-man bomb squad. United are trying to find buyers for sidelined quartet Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia.

Amorim has banished all four from training with his first-team squad while the transfer window is open. But while there is interest in all of them, United are refusing to accept offers for a group that cost them more than £170million in transfer fees.

An Old Trafford insider said: “Of course it’s not ideal to have senior players training away from the first-team group. But until offers are received that meet our valuations then the situation remains the same.

“Some clubs might feel that we will be happy to do business at any price but that isn’t the case. The manager has said he will look to reintroduce any or all of them back to the squad if they are still United players when the window closes.

“Situations like these tend to be resolved late in the day.” United’s out-of-favour foursome are costing the club around £500,000-a-week in wages.

Marcus Rashford was allowed to join Barcelona on loan for the season when the Catalan club agreed to a £30million option to buy next year and cover the England international’s wages in full.

Rashford then accepted a 25 percent cut in his £325,000-a-week salary to make it happen. Sancho, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, has been courted by Roma but his £250,000-a-week wages are an issue.

Real Betis want to sign Antony after the Brazilian impressed on loan but can’t pay the £30million asking price or his £130,000-a-week wages.

Garnacho is a Chelsea target but the London club feel United’s £50million valuation is excessive. And Malacia is attracting interest from clubs in Holland, Italy and Germany.

Amorim admitted on Monday that it is not a good situation to still have four wantaway players at Manchester United but says “anything can happen” if they do not find a suitable solution.

The Red Devils have until September 1 to complete their summer rebuild, with speculation over potential additions outweighed by talk of prospective exits.

“I know that it’s not a good thing to have players in this situation, but it’s clear they want to play in a different club,” Amorim said. “That is clear.

“So, we try to arrange everything for both parts to be happy, so I have to try to imagine, to have the training with the guys that I think are going to be the future.

“Then the other guys are training and preparing for the next chapter. When the window is closed, it’s a different history. When the window is closed, we have to receive the players and then a new life. Anything can happen.”
