Italian band Stadio have announced they are writing a song for Fiorentina captain Davide Astori. “He really was a good man.”
The defender died in his sleep on March 4 2018, in the team hotel the night before a Serie A match against Udinese.
“The memory of Astori still moves me, as he really was a good man who knew how to unite people and was fundamental in a group of young players,” revealed Stadio songwriter Gaetano Curreri.
“I felt the need to get that pain out of me and that is also what songs are for.”
Stadio are not new to reflecting football in their songs, as they also wrote ‘Gaetano and Giacinto,’ dedicated to Juventus and Inter legends Scirea and Facchetti.
