It's Barcelona's time to convince when they will face Valencia soon

Barcelona face Valencia on Saturday at the Estadio de Mestalla in Quique Setien's first crucial test against a strong opponent.

The former Real Betis coach is working around to the clock to ensure that his players can fully adapt to the new 3-5-2 formation, which he deployed from his first day at the office.

Setien is aware that his side need to put together a string of convincing performances, following two narrow wins against Granada and Ibiza.

In neither of the two aforementioned matches did Barcelona impress, and they are now heading to Valencia in search of three important points.

Attacking play

Barcelona have stood out for their attacking football with pressure high up the pitch in recent years.

Against Ibiza though, they managed their first shot on target in the 67th minute of the encounter and only added another two before the end of the match.

In their 1-0 win over Granada they had a total of six shots on target, but only netted once through Lionel Messi 75 minutes into the game.

Superstars

Barcelona's squad consists of various quality players who can make the difference and Setien's challenge is to make them work together and deliver.

In his first couple of games on the bench, the Blaugrana were rescued by some individual moments from their stars.

In Ibiza it was Griezmann who netted a brace to turn the game around, and at the Camp Nou it was their captain Lionel Messi who scored the winner.

Possession

The Catalan side have made it clear that they are willing to dominate the ball from the first minute of their games.

In Setien's debut as Barcelona coach, they registered 82 percent possession, while in the Copa del Rey game they had 78 percent.

However, of the 718 passes they attempted in the match against Ibiza, a mere 187 were in a forward direction and something similar happened against Granada.

Formation

Setien has decided to drop the 4-3-3 formation which has been deployed by Barcelona for several years and introduce a 3-5-2 system.

The players will need time to adapt and some of them look lost on the pitch, as happened with Nelson Semedo and Carles Perez in Ibiza.

Defending

Defensive performances have been Barcelona's Achilles heel so far this season.

The Blaugrana have already conceded 23 goals in 20 LaLiga Santander games and Setien will be asked to find a solution soon.
