During El Clásico, Barcelona president Joan Laporta posed for a photo with several former coaches and management members in the VIP area of Spotify Camp Nou. The photo circulated widely on social media among Barcelona fans.
The group photo included Frank Rijkaard, Henk ten Cate, Jordi Cruijff, and Ronald Koeman. Rafa Yuste, Barcelona's vice president of sports, and Enric Masip, a close associate of Joan Laporta, also appeared in the picture. Rijkaard and ten Cate worked together to lead Barcelona to glory, winning the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1989 and the European Cup in 1992. Jordi Cruijff was involved in the club's sports management during the early period of Joan Laporta's second tenure. Koeman helped Barcelona win the European Cup as a player in 1992 and served as head coach from 2020 to 2021.
Joan Laporta first served as Barcelona president from 2003 to 2010 and returned to the position in 2021. During his tenures, he worked with Rijkaard, Guardiola, Koeman, interim coach Sergi Barjuán, Xavi, and Flick. Flick did not participate in the photo as he was focused on preparing for El Clásico. Guardiola, Xavi, and Barjuán were also absent.
Koeman's presence was particularly noteworthy. The Dutch coach took over Barcelona in August 2020 under Bartomeu's presidency, and Laporta retained him upon returning in March 2021. Koeman led the team to win the Copa del Rey in the 2020-21 season, securing Laporta's first title upon his return. However, their relationship deteriorated, and Koeman was dismissed in October 2021. This group photo suggests a reconciliation between them.
This gathering also demonstrated Johan Cruyff's profound influence on Barcelona's history. Rijkaard was recommended by Cruyff, Koeman scored the winning goal when Barcelona won the European Cup in 1992, and Jordi Cruijff is the son of the Dutch legend. Rijkaard and ten Cate, who had been out of the spotlight for years, reconnected with Barcelona's glorious history through this reunion.
