Just five months after his return to Atlético Mineiro, Jorge Sampaoli has officially left his position following a mutual agreement with the Brazilian club.
Despite a contract running until 2027, the Argentinian coach paid the price for disappointing results, highlighted by a Copa Sudamericana final defeat in 2025 and ongoing struggles in the league.
In an official statement, Atlético Mineiro confirmed that the decision followed a meeting at the Cidade do Galo training center. The club will place the team under the guidance of assistant coach Lucas Gonçalves for the upcoming match, while thanking Sampaoli and his staff for their work.
At 65, the former coach of Olympique de Marseille and Stade Rennais now finds himself once again available on the coaching market.
