Jurgen Klopp slammed Gary Neville as the pair were involved in an extraordinary war of words after Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Leeds.
The Merseyside club are one of six Premier League sides that have agreed to take part in the European Super League.
After Liverpool conceded a late goal in the draw with Leeds, Klopp was asked to give his views on the breakaway competition.
Klopp reiterated his views from 2019 that he doesn't wish to see a European Super League but defended his team.
The German manager also hit out at Neville for comments he made when the news first broke on Sunday.
When speaking about the under-fire proposals on Sunday, Neville said: 'It's been damned, and rightly so.
'I'm a Manchester United fan and I have been for 40 years of my life but I'm absolutely disgusted. I'm disgusted with Manchester United and Liverpool most.
'Liverpool, they pretend 'You'll Never Walk Alone', the people's club, the fans' club.'
Neville's comments got the attention of Klopp who fired back at the former Manchester United defender: 'Gary Neville speaks about You'll Never Walk Alone. That already should be forbidden to be honest.
'Because we have a lot of right to sing that anthem, that's our anthem and not his and he doesn't understand it anyway so I really don't want these kind of things because it's not fair.
'I understand all the talk and I don't like it as well. But I don't talk about other clubs like this, you can be emotional but I wish Gary Neville would be in a hotseat somewhere and not everywhere where the most money is.
'He was at Manchester United, Sky all these kinds of things. Don't forget we have nothing to do with it. We're in the same situation as you all we got information and we still have to play football.'
After Klopp's interview, Neville defended his quotes from Sunday afternoon.
He said: 'Why is it not fair? I have insulted Liverpool loads of times over the years, yesterday was nothing to do with insulting Liverpool.
'I don't know why I am living in his head to be honest with you, I don't know what spiked him.
'Yesterday was an impassioned plea about football and said my biggest disappointement equally was with Manchester United and Liverpool so I don't know what his problem is.
'He talks about hotseat, I had a 25 year career at Manchester United and then 11 years at Sky and I worked hard for that. I've not been handed it and gone where the most money is.
'I didn't have choices. Sir Alex Ferguson did not say "Gary do you want to stay here?" every year.
'I employ 600 people in the city and try to look after them through a pandemic. Is that not a hot enough seat for him.
'He's done a great job at Liverpool, I've got no problem with Klopp, I loved his team but the fact is he's spiky, he's been let down by his owners who have thrown him under the bus.
'We're actually on the same team. But fact of the matter is he can't say what he wants to say and I can.
'The Klopp I know he hates every thing about this, goes against everything he believes in.'

I am writing from Africa. I fell to understand the mind of Garry Neville. Why is it that he always tries to be on top of other people.I don't understand his mind if not the education that was instilled in his brains.I know all people are racist, be you white or black, but the way Garry Neville does it, is too much.He like to throw himself in the middle of something that does not concern him. Why is he so much in the dealings of Liverpool Club. He has well stated it that he has insulted Liverpool Club load of time, which i can't comprehend so well that why Liverpool tolerate him so much .Upon this background, i go back to the period when he was a player at Manchester United, with no doubt in my mind he was such a player who could not count the black players around him.Garry wherever you are, your character stinks. Who cares about your project where you employ 600 workers.Mr Jurgen Klopp answered vividly well, genius way.People should not involve in matters that does not concern them - - - Garry be told! Hopefully, life will humble you, one day. Why can't Garry be concerned and give more focus to his project instead of having a grudge towards Liverpool Club. I remember so well,Garry was one of those Manchester supporters who were happy when Luis Suarez left for Barcelona, now he is praying for the same for Jurgen Klopp to leave and showing such hate towards JK,because Klopp is a thorn in his flesh. The reason is just to weaken Liverpool FC. What does not concern you, does not concern you Garry. Garry Neville the way you market yourself is so ridiculous, causes one to vomit.Anyway, i have loved how Jurgen Klopp answered back. He touched all the details, brilliantly answered. Thank you Mr JK... ๐ช๐ฝ๐ช๐ฝ
You are completely seeing Gary Neville points from a different prospective.he isn't talking about club rivalry or such, but about the believe, tradition and slogans that represents all football clubs. using that phrase of insulting Liverpool was just a simple reference not the focal parts of what he his trying to protract.not to mention he's also a pundit and a legend of the game, he has every legal rights to voice his opinion. Mr JK is only protecting his job and respecting the rules of work
