Kroos: First goal conceded not because Valverde off but lack of communication

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos was very pleased with the way Isco played in Los Blancos' 2-2 draw against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

The Spanish playmaker returned to the starting line-up for the first time in a month, having last begun a match in the defeat at Real Mallorca, and he rewarded Zinedine Zidane's faith by putting in a great performance.

"He had a good match, with and without the ball," Kroos said in his post-game interview.

"He has worked hard and given us a lot, also with the ball.

"Zidane does these things."

Once Fede Valverde was withdrawn in the 76th minute, just before Real Madrid made it 2-0, Los Blancos seemed to lose their dominance in the middle of the park and ended up drawing 2-2, yet Kroos believes taking off the Uruguayan was not the reason why they allowed PSG to come back into the game.

"He had another good match, but on the first goal, it's down to a lack of communication between [Thibaut] Courtois and [Raphael] Varane," Kroos noted when asked about Valverde.

"So, I don't think it's because a player came off."

Karim Benzema scored a brace to give Real Madrid a 2-0 lead, thus continuing his fine start to the 2019/20 campaign.

"He is very important for his goals," Kroos stated when discussing Benzema.

"[Also] because of his play, but today is not the day to talk about one player but [instead] the whole team.

"We deserved a better result."
