L'Équipe: Real Madrid to attend Ballon d'Or ceremony with multiple players expected

  /  autty

After boycotting or downplaying the Ballon d'Or ceremony for two consecutive years, Real Madrid has decided to attend this year's ceremony, scheduled for Monday, October 28, in Paris, with several club players in attendance.

In 2024, Real Madrid announced a last-minute boycott due to Vinícius Júnior losing out to Rodri. In 2025, Real Madrid had minimal presence, with only women's player Caroline Weir attending. This year, Real Madrid will attend the Ballon d'Or on a larger scale. Several of the club's nominees will travel to Paris for the award ceremony on Monday, October 28 – just one day after Real Madrid's away Clásico match against Barcelona (Sunday at 8 PM).

It should be noted that the Madrid club has four players nominated: Kylian Mbappé (who scored in Wednesday's Champions League match against RB Leipzig, 4-1), Marc Cucurella, Jude Bellingham, and Vinícius Júnior. Additionally, there are nominees in other award categories: Thibaut Courtois (Best Goalkeeper).
