LaLiga title race alive: fixture list for Atleti, Madrid & Barcelona

With their win in Vigo, Zidane's men are just three points behind leaders Atlético (63 points) with Barcelona on 59 with Simeone and Koeman's sides in action on Sunday.

As the 2020/21 LaLiga campaign reaches the final straight, things at the top of the table with Real Madrid cutting Atleti's lead at the summit to just three points after Zidane's men claimed three points at Balaídos beating Celta Vigo (1-3).

All three sides face a sprint to the finish line with Atlético on 63 points, Real Madrid (60) and FC Barcelona on 59 puntos. Both Los Rojiblancos and Blaugrana have yet to fulfil their matchday 28 fixtures with Simeone's men facing Alavés on Sunday at 18:30h CET in the Spanish capital and Koeman's side facing a tricky trip to San Sebastian where they play Real Sociedad on Sunday night (21:00 horas CET).

Real Madrid Champions League survivors

Real Madrid are the only Spanish side involved in the UCL and have the task of juggling key LaLiga and Champions League games. The first leg of the Champions League quarter final against Liverpool will be played on Tuesday 6 April. Madrid are at home for the first leg, although that could possibly change if safety restrictions are necessary. Just days after that game, Madrid play Barça in El Clásico - a game which could be vital in determining positions at the top of the table. If the team has fallen too far off the pace by then, Zidane might decide to rest players and rotate his team. After playing Barcelona in a 9 p.m. kick-off on 10 April, Madrid will hardly have any time to rest before the return leg against Liverpool, where they will be trying to book their place in the semi-finals. The second leg, at Anfield, will take place on Wednesday 14 April.

Copa del Rey final

Barcelona's 'distraction' comes in the form of the 2020/21 Copa del Rey final against Athletic Club on 17 April in Seville. A win for Koeman's men would be a major shot in the arm for the team and act as a possible spur to push on in the search of a league and cup double win.

Head-to-head

Should the sides draw level at the end of the campaign, head-to-head results rather than goal-average is used to decide the victor. At present only Real Madrid and Atleti have completed fxitres between both sides with Zidane's men having a superior head-to-head. Madrid also overcame Barcelona at Camp Nou and Atleti have still to travel to the Catalan capital after recording a 1-0 over Los Cules in Madrid.

The fixtures scheduled for the weekend of 9 May could also go someway in determing the outcome of the title winners as Real Madrid face fourth place Sevilla, who are fighting for a Champions League spot and Atleti travelling to Camp Nou.
