This week, Lamine Yamal’s mind would have been on Barcelona’s opening match of the 2024-25 La Liga season on Saturday, when Hansi Flick’s side take on Valencia at the Mestalla. However, that will feel immaterial to the 17-year-old right now, as he has suffered a serious family emergency.
La Vanguardia (via Marca) have reported that Lamine Yamal’s father, Mounir Nasraoui, has been stabbed. The incident took place in the town of Mataro, which is north of Barcelona.
The Catalan police are currently investigating the matter. Nasraoui, whose prognosis has been described as “dire” by the report, has been transferred to the Can Ruti hospital in Badalona.
