Lamine Yamal's mother: The quiet force behind his success, gaining social media following

Sheila, originally from Bata in Equatorial Guinea, moved to Spain as a teenager. She had Lamine at age 21 while in a relationship with Mounir Nasraoui. The two separated when Lamine was 3 years old, but she chose to remain in Catalonia to build a future for herself and her son.

As she explained through interviews and voiceovers in the documentary "304," his mother remains one of the most important people in his life. Even after Lamine joined La Masia academy at age 12, his mother remained his steadfast supporter. "My mum worked at McDonald's, we didn't have much, but we were very happy during the holidays. She bought me a PlayStation. Everything she gave me, I can never repay. When I was little, my mum was always one of my role models," he said.

"When I came home, she would talk to me, cook for me, and then go to work," he added, smiling. Today, Yamal's mother is 39 and has become a driving force behind her son's rise to stardom. Sheila now lives in Maresme with her younger son, Kené. This summer, she is taking time to rest and has also enrolled her son in summer camp to participate in activities with other children. Sheila has also become a social media sensation.

The mother frequently shares videos on social media, particularly featuring Lamine and her younger son. After working in the hotel industry for many years, she has since retired. She once posted a video for her son's 18th birthday: "Even though time passes and you grow up, in my heart you will always be my little baby. Happy 18th birthday, my son. May you always be happy. I love you so much."

Lamine has consistently expressed gratitude for his mother's efforts to shield him from the hardships she faced. "I always tell my mum that I am very grateful to her, because she had such a difficult time, but she never let me see anything bad. Maybe I didn't have the best childhood in the world, but she always made me see only the good and to enjoy life. I have nothing to complain about," he said.

Sheila Ebana was born in Equatorial Guinea and has always been very close to her son. "My son is Equatorial Guinean, and I'm sad when people say he isn't," she said on Rac1 a few years ago.

However, Lamine, born in Esplugues, ultimately chose to represent Spain internationally, despite also being drawn to his mother's home country of Equatorial Guinea.

Lamine also identifies strongly as Equatorial Guinean through his family roots. In an interview with GQ, he showcased his mother's signature pre-match dish: rice with chicken and peanut sauce, "which is traditional Equatorial Guinean food," he explained.

His mother lives a quiet life in Premià de Mar. After separating from Lamine's father, she requested a transfer from the McDonald's in Mataró to the Granollers branch so she could enroll her son at C.F. La Torreta.
