Lasarte, the man who discovered Suarez: Maybe he was right to leave Barcelona

With Luis Suarez in brilliant form for Atletico Madrid, the man who discovered the Uruguayan as a youngster, Martin Lasarte, has suggested that the player was right to leave Barcelona.

Suarez spent six years at the Camp Nou and won four LaLiga Santander titles, four Copa del Rey trophies and the Champions League in a glittering career, before he joined Atletico in the summer.

"I'm sure some at Barcelona regret [letting him go]," Lasarte told Radio MARCA. "In situation like this, where there is a managerial issue, things are complicated.

"Suarez seemed like he was getting into the twilight of his career. Now, he has a new shine and a new place.

"Perhaps he has done well in leaving the comfort zone of Barcelona."

So far this season, Suarez has bagged 12 LaLiga Santander goals, as Atletico sit seven points clear of Real Madrid atop the table, with one game in hand.
