Lee completes €40m switch from PSG to Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid have announced the signing of Lee Kang-in from Paris Saint-Germain.

Lee has signed a five-year deal with Atleti, who agreed a reported €40m deal with PSG for the winger's services.

The 25-year-old joined PSG ahead of the 2023-24 campaign and went on to make 124 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 16 goals and providing 16 assists during his time in the French capital.

He won a total of 12 trophies with PSG, including three Ligue 1 titles and back-to-back Champions Leagues over the past two seasons.

Lee became the second South Korean player to win the Champions League after Park Ji-sung, who lifted the trophy with Manchester United.

The former Valencia and Mallorca winger has also made 50 appearances for his national team, scoring 11 goals and recording 14 assists.

One of those assists came at this summer's World Cup, as Lee starred in a 2-1 group stage win over Czechia.

Lee completed five dribbles and won four fouls in the match; no player in the whole of the 2022 edition did both as many times in a single game, with Eden Hazard in the 2018 semi-final (v France) the last to do so in a World Cup match.

Diego Simeone's side begin their 2026-27 LaLiga campaign on August 19 against newly-promoted Malaga at home.

Prior to their season opener, Atleti will face Getafe, United, Manchester City and Marseille in friendly matches.
