Lights and shadows for Oblak

It has been another excellent season for Jan Oblak at Atletico Madrid. The Slovenian has again been key for Los Rojiblancos, reaching heights that even he hadn't previously, racking up his fourth consecutive Zamora Trophy, which matches only Victor Valdes.

There are few doubts about his consistency, and it's hard to argue with the fact that he has been their most reliable player this term, though maybe Antoine Griezmann might argue otherwise.

But the loss of talent from the squad is concerning the goalkeeper - with Griezmann, Diego Godin and Lucas Hernandez all moving on - and Diego Simeone has a job on his hands to satisfy him. While he awaits signings, Oblak is left to think.

Another perfect campaign

He's turned into an extraordinary talent, and every time he plays he's capable of performing miracles. He's been doing it for years, granted, but he is still somehow getting even better.

Not only is he Atletico's best, but he's one of the very best in Europe, if not the very best. As a result, he's one of the most sought after players on the continent.

Oblak has become a reference for Simeone's side. He's claimed a fourth straight Zamora Trophy and leaked just 27 goals in 37 games this term, stopping an incredible 79.4 percent of shots faced.

Future concerns

The summer gets going with Oblak as the best player in the squad, and his salary reflects that, with the 26-year-old earning 10 million euros per season.

Although his last renewal took a lot of time and had a lot of disagreements, a contract was eventually signed, but his continuity is being questioned again with his release clause - 120m euros - being reachable for most of Europe's top sides.

The summer is long, but with Griezmann, Lucas, Godin and Juanfran not being part of the future plans, there are a few doubts creeping in about the others.

Rodri is one, Filipe Luis is another, and Oblak is the one Atletico will dread losing most.
