Ademola Lookman delivered a performance to remember as Atlético Madrid dismantled Barcelona 4–0 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final clash.

The Nigerian forward was at the heart of the demolition, scoring and assisting in a ruthless first-half display that left Barcelona stunned. Lookman struck in the 33rd minute to make it 3–0, finishing off a flowing move that underlined Atlético’s attacking sharpness.

If that goal tilted the tie firmly in Atlético’s favour, his next contribution buried it. Deep into first-half stoppage time, Lookman turned provider, setting up Julián Álvarez in the 45+2 minute for the fourth goal. The assist capped a blistering opening 45 minutes in which Atlético overwhelmed their opponents with pace, precision and intensity.

It was not an isolated flash of brilliance. Lookman has been in outstanding form, having also registered a goal and an assist against Real Betis in a previous outing, underlining his growing influence in Diego Simeone’s setup.

Against Barcelona, however, the stakes were higher and the spotlight brighter. Atlético rose to the occasion, and so did Lookman. His movement between the lines caused constant problems, while his composure in front of goal reflected a player brimming with confidence.

The emphatic victory gives Atlético Madrid a commanding advantage heading into the second leg, with one foot already in the final of the Copa del Rey. For Lookman, it was another statement performance on a big stage.
