Luis Suarez has not scored an away Champions League goal for 1,113 DAYS

A Champions League trip away from the home comforts of the Nou Camp is probably the last thing Luis Suarez would have wanted right now.

A blip of no goals in three games has coincided with a surprising winless run for Barcelona, but the striker's goalscoring record away from home in the Champions League paints a much bleaker picture.

Suarez heads to Wembley on Wednesday evening with a monkey on his back that has taken three years to shake.

The last time he registered a goal in the competition away from home came 1,113 days ago in a 1-1 draw against Roma - Barcelona have played 14 Champions League away matches since then.

But Wednesday's Group B game against Tottenham presents Suarez - and the Catalan side for that matter - with an opportunity to end the horror run.

Suarez has been reminded of his own shortcomings ahead of the Wembley clash and agreed they cannot continue to rely on the brilliance of Lionel Messi.

In a rallying call to his team-mates, he said after this weekend's 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao: 'He [Messi] is the best in the world but we can't depend on Leo to solve everything.

'We have many players here on their own merits, and we have to show we can win without Messi sometimes.'

Barcelona will be desperate for Suarez to break his duck and return to scoring ways, with Ousmane Dembele set to be rested.

Suarez's poor from in the competition has seen Barca struggle to progress into its deeper stages and they will be eager for that to change, having had to sit back and watch arch-rivals Real Madrid lift the Champions League trophy the last three seasons.
