Luis Suarez spoke to '90 minutes of football' and revealed the keys to Lionel Messi's future at Camp Nou.

In dialogue with journalist Pollo Vignolo on ESPN, the Atletico Madrid striker explained that the board changing could keep the Argentine at the club.

"I think that they wanted to get me away from Messi, maybe it annoyed them that I had a good relationship with Leo. Maybe they wanted him to be with me less. I can't see any reasons for them to think that it hurt the team."

The forward said that he was missing his friend. "Obviously I miss Leo, but with the technology we have, we're constantly talking. We know the friendship we have. We shared a lot of things, arriving together to training each day, up to the mate (teas). Our kids had a life together and we have a great family link."

"That Messi wanted to leave Barcelona was not a gesture for me, they had to respect his decision of wanting to leave. Out of respect for Leo I will not say what we spoke about at that time but he was in a difficult and complicated situation.

"He wanted to leave and the club didn't want him to. I tried to support him, take care of him and distract him a bit. The cameras were after him, it was complicated and I had to help him.

"Leo is conscious of what he is for Barcelona. He has given things the club never imagined, he has to keep being the No 1, the best, and to be happy.

"Maybe Messi could play for another club but if he is comfortable again, happy and another board arrives, he will want to stay at the club. As a friend I will be happy if things go well for him there. And if he has to go to another club, then too."
