Manchester United are preparing an official bid worth €40 million (£34m) in fixed terms for Palmeiras prodigy Eduardo Conceição, with bonuses still to be defined.

The move represents a significant escalation in the race for the 16-year-old, who has become one of the most sought-after prospects in South American football.

The English club have already initiated contacts and are now working to formalise their proposal, entering a dispute that already includes Manchester City and Barcelona. Both clubs remain in advanced stages of talks as competition for the teenager intensifies.

Palmeiras, however, are holding out for a higher fee. The club’s expectation is to reach at least €40 million (£34m), potentially rising with add-ons, although a final decision may depend on other transfer movements in the squad.

An offer from Newcastle, worth €25 million (£21.5m) plus €15 million (£12.9m) in bonuses, has already been rejected.

One of the key factors is the future of midfielder Allan, 22, who is a regular starter under Abel Ferreira and one of the team’s most trusted players following a strong 2025 season.

Napoli recently saw a €35 million (£30m) bid turned down, and a potential sale could directly impact Palmeiras’ stance on Conceição, with the club more inclined to wait if Allan departs.

Manchester City remain one of the most aggressive suitors and have already positioned themselves strongly in negotiations, while Barcelona have also stepped up their interest.

The Catalan club’s sporting director Deco has held direct contact with João Paulo Sampaio, Palmeiras’ academy co-ordinator, as part of their approach.

Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation, adopting a more cautious strategy while observing how negotiations evolve.

Meanwhile, Conceição’s representatives have met with several European clubs, and his family has travelled across countries including England and France to assess potential destinations.

Conceição is represented by DSA Sports, the agency led by Adriano Ribeiro, alongside Douglas Sousa, who is Endrick’s father.

The player’s camp is expected to weigh both financial terms and sporting projects before making a decision.

He recently featured for Brazil at the South American Under-17 Championship in Paraguay, where he wore the No 10 shirt. Conceição recorded two goals and two assists in five matches as Brazil finished third in the competition, and the expectation is that he will now begin integrating with Palmeiras’ first team in order to gain minutes and experience at senior level.

At 16 years and just over four months old, Conceição can become the third-youngest player to ever feature for Palmeiras, behind only Endrick (16 years and two months) and Rodrigo Taddei (16 years and three months), and ahead of names such as Estêvão, who debuted at 16 years and eight months.

Within Palmeiras, Conceição is regarded as a unique talent with a different development curve compared to recent stars. Youth co-ordinator João Paulo Sampaio said:

“Endrick and Estêvão always had the spotlight from the age of 11. Eduardo is only getting that attention now — and we don’t know where he can go, which is a good doubt.”

Former Palmeiras Under-20 coach and current Brazil Under-20 assistant Lucas Andrade offered further insight into the player’s profile.

“Eduardo has the profile of a ball-carrying attacking midfielder. He can also play on the left, but his best performances come centrally, as a No 10. He is a dribbler who can break lines both with runs and vertical passes.”

“He has the characteristics for the Premier League. He combines technical quality with physical strength, speed and the ability to deal with contact, which is essential in such an intense league.”
