Madrid 2-2 PSG: Madrid throw away 2-goal lead in 3 mins as Hazard off injured

Kylian Mbappe and Pablo Sarabia struck late to steal a 2-2 draw for Paris Saint-Germain at Real Madrid in a pulsating Champions League encounter that ensures the Parisiens top Group A.

Paris Saint-Germain served up late drama at Real Madrid to secure a draw and top spot in Group A in the Champions League.

Madrid appeared certain to avenge a 3-0 loss from matchday one thanks to Karim Benzema's double and a contentious VAR decision that saw a red card for Thibaut Courtois overturned just before the break.

But Mbappe, who Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane this week expressed his love for, scored shortly after Benzema's second before ex-Los Blancos midfielder Sarabia rifled home the equaliser.

There was still time for Gareth Bale to hit the post with a stoppage-time free-kick as the Welshman came mightily close to silencing his critics. 

It means PSG now cannot be caught at the top of the group, while Madrid – who lost the excellent Eden Hazard to injury with 21 minutes left – will lament wasting a host of glorious chances in a match they largely controlled, with their former goalkeeper Keylor Navas in fine form.

SAVE! Benzema has space to pull the trigger on the edge of the box, but slides a pass to his right for Kroos. The German strikes at goal with the outside of his right foot, bringing out a fine save from Navas diving to his left.

42' VAR cancels Courtois red card

VAR! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE! Di Maria releases the run of Icardi through on goal and he takes a touch to get past the onrushing Courtois. The Belgian brings down the forward on the edge of the box, denying him a goalscoring opportunity. The referee brandishes a red card. 

However, on review he goes back for a shove on Marcelo by Gueye in the middle of the park. He chalks off the red card and a potential penalty for PSG in the process. Incredible.

A big decision from Tuchel at the break as he withdraws Gueye and brings on Neymar. An attacking move to say the least.

69' Injured! Hazard subbed off

Bad news for Madrid as Hazard will not be able to continue this evening. It looks as though he has hurt his ankle quite badly as two physios help him around the pitch.

Marcelo collects a lay-off from Isco and floats a cross to the back post. Benzema rises to direct his header downwards away from Navas into the bottom-left corner. A fine finish from the forward.

MBAPPE KEEPS THE GAME ALIVE!!! 2-1!!! PSG are back in the contest in a flash as Mbappe seizes on a mistake from Varane to tap home. Sarabia's cross causes all sorts of problems for Varane and Courtois as neither man takes responsibility. Mbappe follow the ball in to notch a simple goal.

SARABIA EQUALISES WITH A STUNNER!!! 2-2!!! The game turns on its head in a matter of minutes. The French champions find themselves level courtesy of a super strike from Sarabia. He latches on to a loose ball in the box from Bernat's deflected cross. There's still work to do, but he belts his left-footed strike on the half-volley into the top corner
