Hello and welcome to our latest Manchester United Q&A session, with Chief Manchester United writer Samuel Luckhurst here to answer your questions on anything and everything about United.

While the World Cup continues in Qatar, Erik ten Hag is preparing for the restart of the season with United in Spain. A team comprising of a few stars, squad players and promising youngsters faced Cadiz on Wednesday evening, and fell to a 4-2 defeat.

Results count for little in what is effectively United's second pre-season, though some squad members - Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to name but two - need to impress Ten Hag, with their United careers in real danger as the January transfer window approaches. These games can be dangerous for established players who fail to shine, but for youngsters, they can be a win-win - and Kobbie Mainoo's goal will have given Ten Hag something to think about, along with the impressive Zidane Iqbal.

United take on Real Betis in their final friendly in Spain on Saturday, though Ten Hag will have one eye on the January transfer window. Cristiano Ronaldo's Old Trafford exit leaves United light up front, and though Anthony Martial is back and scored vs Cadiz, his injury record suggests Ten Hag needs a striker for a top-four fight.

United have been heavily linked with Cody Gakpo, who is starring for the Netherlands at the World Cup... but are there any other players in Qatar who could move to United in January? What about Gakpo's compatriot Frenkie de Jong, who Barcelona insist isn't for sale ... but surely would be for the right price? And how do you replace Ronaldo - go like-for-like, or add a younger, versatile forward?
