Manchester United may be set to promote some of their brightest stars to a more prominent role in the first team if Anthony Martial gets his wish and leaves the club this month.
Martial told the Old Trafford club last month that he wants a new challenge and has requested to leave, putting himself in the shop window.
The 26-year-old has made just seven league appearances this season, with only two coming as starts, and has not featured for United since a two-minute cameo against Arsenal at the beginning of December.
And with the likes of Sevilla, PSG and Newcastle showing interest, Martial could be heading for the exit – and interim boss Ralf Rangnick will not stand in his way.
The Frenchman's departure would present an opportunity for Amad Diallo, Anthony Elanga and Shola Shoretire to get a more prominent role in Rangnick's plans, according to the Express.
The report claims finding a replacement for Martial in the transfer market may be a tough ask and instead could hand the opportunity to one of the three aforementioned players.
Diallo has struggled to get any meaningful first-team minutes under his belt since his £25million move from Atalanta last summer.
The Ivorian arrived to huge fanfare but is yet to get a real run in the first team.
Meanwhile, Elanga already appears to have Rangnick's trust having put pen to paper on a new four-and-a-half-year deal last month and scored on his full Premier League debut against Wolves.
He already has already made four appearances for United this season and looks to be in favour with the new management.
Another promising option would be Shoretire who has been tipped for big things in the future.
The talented 17-year-old has been fast-tracked through the club's acadamy and has made four senior appearances for the club so far.

I'm not upset with Martial. only seven league appearances, sitting on the bench or not selected at all. Cavani, Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes took his spot the moment they arrived and rashford
Why would you be upset with Martial when you're a Man City fan? 🤔

Why would they need to wait for Martial to leave? It's not as though Martial is playing any minutes these days. Also, these kids couldn't do any worse than Sancho and Rashford. So they deserve some opportunities.

martial is good let's wait and see how he will play for the next club, let him join Newcastle and face him .. Ralf rangnick doesn't know premier league well , Ronaldo out mean cavani ,Rushford , greenwood can stand for us and van de Beek , Fred, Bruno can still control the midfield

it's time FIFA step in and stop these high wages. Then you'll see the real committed players.salaries sud not be in excess of £150 weekly. Singapore's prime minister is paid SGD 2.2 million annually. Just imagine these, some of them illiterate getting paid more than these great leaders.

All these are happening to United because they don't have a plan yet, how can you be looking for Martial's replacement when we have young talents in the club? what have they been doing behind the scenes all these years that the transition is not there? I repeat, we have talents in the team but we don't have a team of talents, why? because we don't buy players who match the system but the team has been buying players because they want to compete with other clubs who go for their signatures and get them big fees and wages and forced them into a system which will help them struggling. look at the mid table teams and those at the bottom always give United headache because they have players who are comfortable in their system of play against those who aren't and when the other teams meet those who are comfortable they struggle. How can you tell me that United will struggle to get 1-2 goals against teams like Newcastle, Norwich, etc. but Arsenal(with no disrespect) with other midtable teams will go through them with ease or 3-5 goals at the end of the day? United problem is not the manager, but the caliber of players or recruitment systems that is a problem. => WAY FORWARD!! 1. Get the long term manager we need, who will stay no matter the early results because he has a style we trust because of the work he has done in the past and not trying managers. 2. Get rid of the players that are problems in the dressing room and bad example to the young lads no matter their status. 3. Let the manager pick from the current team the few players he wants, promote the few who are ready from the academy and get dedicated players even from mid tables within the league or in Europe. 4. Avoid heavy wages for players contracts, but they have to earn big because of their performance and positive contributions in the dressing room , no matter their status. 5. Get young players into the academy whom we can get them on loan (to a team that is similar to the manager's for smooth transition) for a period which we will want them come back and get integrated in the team immediately and those who aren't in the coaches plan we sell them. 6. the coaches in the under 18s, 19s, 23s, should also have a vision of transition with the first team coach.
this is the truth

"A more prominent role"? Martial dont play so they are taking the place of a player who wasnt getting game time? This club thinks we're stupid or something? As it stands Greenwood is entitled to me game time as our 2nd top scorer, Sancho needs to play to settle more so how is Amad, Elanga and Shoretire going to play? Loan out them youths and stop wasting their potential 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
