Man Utd monitors Summerville, deal hinges on Rashford's future

According to the latest report from The Athletic's renowned journalist Ornstein, Manchester United are closely monitoring Summerville, but whether the deal can be completed depends on Rashford's future.

Manchester United are reportedly one of the teams closely watching Summerville, who is high on the list of wingers Manchester United are researching for potential signings in that position.

Manchester United have inquired about his situation and know that West Ham United are expected to demand around £50 million for a player whose contract runs until June 2029.

Whether the club signs Summerville largely depends on Rashford, as Barcelona did not activate the €30 million buy-out clause in the latter's loan contract (which expired on Monday).

As things stand, Rashford will return to Manchester United next month, and it is unclear whether a transfer will occur before the summer window closes. Although Manchester United only intend to seek a permanent solution, the possibility of the player moving to Barcelona has not been entirely ruled out.

The possibility of other European clubs pursuing Rashford also exists. Apart from Liverpool and Manchester City, all interested teams can choose to pay £40 million to sign him, and many Premier League teams have expressed interest.

However, if Rashford returns to Old Trafford, he would prefer to see out the remaining 24 months of his contract rather than join another English team, which would likely reduce Manchester United's chances of strengthening their winger lineup.

Manchester United are currently focused on pursuing Matheus Fernandes from West Ham United. Negotiations through the 21-year-old's agent, Mendes, are progressing, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.
