Marca: Barca to increase their offer for Alvarez

According to Marca, Barcelona is preparing to submit an improved bid to Atletico Madrid in its pursuit of Argentine forward Alvarez.

AS reports that Barcelona's management is refining a new proposal that is more attractive than their initial offer. Barcelona's previous offer did not exceed 100 million euros, as they aimed to compel Atletico Madrid to seriously open negotiations.

Barcelona president Laporta arrived in Dallas, USA, on Monday to watch the World Cup semi-final between Spain and France, stating: "We submitted a high offer, but it's not without an upper limit." However, Barcelona's management also understands that to complete the transfer, the amount must be increased further.

Laporta added: "I made it very clear in my last call with Miguel Ángel Gil Marín (Atletico Madrid CEO). Initially, there were some misunderstandings regarding our offer, which I explained to him, and since then, we haven't made any further progress."

The initial offer of less than 100 million euros has already drawn ridicule from Madrid fans on social media. The player's release clause is as high as 500 million euros, and Real Madrid's previous offer of 150 million euros was also immediately rejected by Atletico Madrid.

However, the situation changed during the World Cup. Alvarez openly expressed his desire to leave, saying the transfer would be "the best option for everyone" and that he hoped to "realize his dream." His words changed the situation and opened a window for Barcelona.

Flick unwilling to wait

German coach Flick does not want to wait until after the summer transfer window closes to confirm his final squad, as he did in his previous two seasons. In those two seasons, either reinforcements arrived too late or someone left at the last minute, such as Iñigo Martínez.

Laporta also clarified the club's stance on his arrival in the USA: "We will not be drawn into a bidding war; we will proceed at our own pace. This offer is not the final offer, and we will state its validity at the appropriate time. We made this offer to sign a player who fits the plans of the coach and the sporting director."

Deadline

Barcelona's management has set a deadline: no later than early August. By then, they will know whether the transfer can go through or whether they need to turn to other options to fill the void left by Lewandowski's departure.

The first step is to significantly increase the offer to force Atletico Madrid to sit down and negotiate seriously. The player himself has publicly expressed his desire to leave and hopes to wear the Barcelona jersey.
