Mariano, post-surgery: Everything went well

Mariano Diaz is on the road to recovery at home after having to face surgery for the fractured nose he suffered against Elche.

The Real Madrid forward will now have to spend around 10 days working alone and without the ball, and from there he will have a custom-made mask fitted to protect his nose as he returns to work with his teammates at Valdebebas.

Mariano took to social media to confirm that everything had gone to plan during the surgery, and to express gratitude for those who reached out to him.

"Thanks everyone for the messages of support," Mariano wrote on Instagram. "Everything went well. No pain, no gain."

Mariano hasn't had much luck this season. Carlo Ancelotti surprised everyone by naming him in the XI against Elche for his first appearance of the season, and now he's facing at least two weeks out after his unfortunate injury.
