Getafe managed yet another important victory against near neighbours Rayo Vallecano at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Saturday, which moved them up to fourth place in LaLiga Santander.
After a relatively slow start, the hosts went 1-0 up on 28 minutes through Jaime Mata, with a fine finish on the half-turn beyond the helpless Stole Dimitrievski in the Rayo goal.
The visitors pulled level just before the hour mark as Raul de Tomas scored from the edge of the box, but it would only serve as false hope.
High-flying Getafe knew that a win would take them into the Champions League spots and that motivation seemed to carry them through.
Ten minutes after Rayo's leveler, on 68 minutes, Jorge Molina was on hand to net home for a crucial winning goal that has Getafe's European dream well and truly alive.
If Sevilla were to fail to win against Barcelona, Getafe would end the week in the Champions League places.
