Bayern München would be wise to let Hansi Flick stay beyond the end of the season, argues Lothar Matthäus.

Lothar Matthäus believes Bayern München should let Hansi Flick stay on as coach beyond the summer.

"The club shouldn't make the future of Hansi Flick solely dependent on sporting success, but should look at the big picture," Matthäus told Sport Bild and added,

"The 'Mia San Mia' feeling, which [Bayern board member] Oliver Kahn demands, is back. Bayern play attractive football, nobody is creating a bad atmosphere. Hansi is the first coach since Jupp Heynckes to have the whole team behind him.

"Therefore - and because in my opinion there's no alternative - I think Flick should stay," Matthäus said.

Flick was put in charge when Niko Kovac was sacked in November. According to reports, the Bayern bosses are planning to discuss his future in May.
