Mauricio Pochettino takes a swipe at former side PSG and says there is 'no manual on how to cope'

Former PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has slammed his old club for having too many big name players - making his time in charge of the French side difficult.

Pochettino, now without a club, was in charge of PSG for just a season-and-a-half as he struggled to make his mark on the side.

The Argentine head coach believes that one of the reasons for his early dismissal was because the club had 'too many players who needed to be number one'.

Speaking to Relevo, Pochettino spoke about his struggles in the French capital and how he coped with managing the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

'You need to constantly adapt because there was too much greatness,' said the former Spurs boss. 'For Barça to have Messi or for Madrid to have Cristiano is a blessing. But when you bring in too many players who all need their spot and be number one, there can be confusion.'

Pochettino continued on the issue: 'In the end, when you play, there are 11 players with one ball. There was a penalty, and who takes it? It is not even a decision of the coach.'

There have been rumours of changing room rifts and rivalries since the big three of Messi, Neymar and Mbappe arrived in Paris and upon arguing over a penalty, this came to light on the pitch.

The trio seem to have patched up their problems in recent times but Pochettino says that the same challenges he faced still exist at the club.

'There is no manual and no one can explain it, although now the experience of when we were there is here.'

The 50-year-old summed up these challenges using PSG's goalkeeper situation: '[PSG have Keylor] Navas and [Gianluigi] Donnarumma, two number ones in the same position.'

Despite Pochettino and PSG not working out, the club were able to win the Ligue Une title last season - shortly before their former head coach was relieved of his duties.

However, the French giants will always be judged based on their performance in the Champions League and new boss Christophe Galtier will be hoping he can get the best out of his players in Europe.
