Kylian Mbappe smashed a goalscoring record of Real Madrid icon Ronaldo Nazario with a vital quickfire brace against Villarreal - and marked it by recreating Cristiano Ronaldo's iconic celebration.

Mbappe bagged a brace in the space of six minutes against the Yellow Submarine to overtake the goal-tally Ronaldo racked up in his debut season at the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo hit 30 across all competitions in his first campaign with the Galacticos - but with his quick double, Mbappe took his number for the season to 31, and celebrated it in style.

Taking on the trademark celebration of the Brazilian legend's namesake, Mbappe performed now-Al Nassr star Ronaldo's 'I'm here' to celebrate such his record-breaking goal.

While the Frenchman did take a minute to get going at his new club, the success of Mbappe's transfer is now beyond any doubt.

R9's record wasn't the only the ex-PSG man broke, with Mbappe's 31st goal now meaning he boasts the fourth highest debut season goal tally in Real Madrid history.

He doesn't look like he's going to stop scoring any time soon and has been in electrifying form in 2025.

With 17 goals, he has scored the second most of any player in Europe's top five leagues, only falling short of former teammate and countryman Ousmane Dembele.

Mbappe's brace proved pivotal for Real, helping Los Blancos flip the game on its head at the Estadio de la Ceramica after Juan Foyth slammed home an early opener from a goalmouth scramble.

The win propelled the reigning European champions to the top of La Liga, although they have played two games more than closest title rival Barcelona, who have won all of their last six in the league.

Carlo Ancelotti will need star man Mbappe to remain on firing form if Real are to come out of the title race on top, with Atletico also very much in the hunt on 56 points with a game in hand.
