It's not anything to do with ego. Dude wants to grow, and can't do that with Messi and Neymar around. For instance, penalties, free kicks, important passes won't be for him again with Messi around.
if he is concerned about growing, then PSG is the right place for him. And having Messi by his side there will only be good thing for him. But if he wants to be the STAR MAN of the team I agree he won't be the number 1. That's why it's a matter of EGO to not be under anyone, that also only at the age of 22.
