McTominay is one of the many United players who have started to impress after leaving Old Trafford after winning the Serie A player of the year as well as the league title with Napoli.
United cannot be blamed
Despite so many stars excelling as soon as they leave the club, the Scotsman has spoken to CBS Sports about how the club are too easy to blame when comparing performances.
"It's too easy of an excuse to say, 'Oh they left Man United, and now they're doing well.' In my last year, I did well - I scored 10 goals and we won a trophy.
"Because the spotlight is directly on you, it makes it seem a lot worse, in my opinion. Obviously, when players go away and they play more games, they're going to have an increase in confidence and feel better about themselves rather than playing less minutes at Man United for example.
“But when you are at Man United, you have to earn those minutes like Bruno Fernandes, who has done incredible."
Rashford is a different subject
Finishing 18th in the running for the 2025 Ballon d'Or, McTominay also commented on Rashford, who is loving life in La Liga with Barcelona whilst on loan with an option to buy in the summer.
McTominay says the England star is a top player, but the club cannot be blamed for his poor form before falling out with manager Ruben Amorim.
"With Marcus, obviously there were different issues which might have transpired that we won't go into.
"However, Marcus is a top player and he's always been a top player, he's one of the club legends, he's scored so many goals for Man United, done so many great things.”
United cashed in on McTominay for a reported £26M in what looks like a bargain deal for Napoli who are chasing down the title once again under manager Antonio Conte.

Scott has spoken really well..he hit the nail on the head.. everyone is blaming the club and coaches but don't want to look at the attitude of the players that left united for another club..Scott is truly a professional there was no sentiment in his comment about rashford and the club.. despite leaving united in the way he did,he didn't take sides or talk bad about the club but said it the way it is.. God bless you scott we love you.

this one is now talking about rashford like he is some kinda of retired midfield legend, mactomany is still an average player who doesn't know what to do with the ball in his position, they are those players like Jude who flocks into the bus to look relevant because they couldn't do their main work in their main position, without goals mactomany is empty
