Messi, Suarez, Neymar & Griezmann at Barcelona. The best attack ever?

There is still a long way to go, but the prospect of signing both Neymar and Antoine Griezmann this summer is a tantalising one for Barcelona fans.

Bringing in Griezmann will be fairly straightforward once his release clause falls to 120 million euros on July 1 while a move for Neymar is feasible if Barcelona can reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.

If these two superstars did the ranks at the Camp Nou, Ernesto Valverde would have an attack consisting of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Griezmann at his disposal.

How could they line up?

Option 1: One system that would see all four accommodated for in attack would be 4-2-4 with Neymar and Griezmann operating from the wings. Messi and Suarez would form a partnership up front.

Option 2: If Valverde doesn't want to play Messi and Suarez up top together, he can always drop the former into a No.10 position.

Option 3: If Valverde wants an extra man in midfield, he can always drop one of the four - in this case Suarez - and play a 4-3-3 formation. Messi would then play as a false nine and work alongside wingers Neymar and Griezmann in a fairly fluid system.

The fall-out

Picking all four of Messi, Suarez, Neymar and Griezmann would mean that some of the key members of Valverde's squad will miss out on a starting spot.

Arthur Melo and Ivan Rakitic would fall behind Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong in a two-man midfield while Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele wouldn't get a look-in at all.

There's a strong possibility that either Coutinho or Dembele, or both, would be sold to compensate for Neymar and Griezmann's arrivals.
