Lionel Messi continues to show his commitment to the fight against childhood cancer with the help of his foundation.
Investments made by the Messi Foundation have created links between the Garrahan Hospital in Buenos Aires and the Sant Joan de Deu Hospital in Barcelona.
Messi and his foundation provide grants and subsidies that reach a total of 100 million euros a year.
"The Foundation had committed its contributions with this new line which defined the Hospital," said Silvia Kassab, executive director of the Garrahan Hospital.
"The collaboration of the Messi Foundation with our initiative strengthens and allows us to give more grants and add skilled specialists to carry out our projects."
"This continues a relationship that first came about more than five years ago," said Guillermo Chantada, coordinator of medicine at Garrahan.
"It allows us to have the decisive support for the investigation of high quality of childhood cancer with impact on the patient."
Lionel's father, Jorge Messi, is director of the Messi Foundation and reiterated the importance of the project.
"We are pleased to be able to help Garrahan in such an important project," he said.
"We know what it means for all the boys and girls in the country. We are going to continue working and collaborating with the investigation because it's for a healthier future."

the truth is lionel messi's contributions to humanity has always been under rated. becaus he doesn't publish it like ronaldo does. no disrespect to cristiano ronaldo humanity appreciates what he does and respect him for that. but I think lionel messi should also be giving some credit for what he does to humanity. wish them the best of luck.

What a wonderful person, not just on the field, but also off it. This is why we love people like him and Juan Mata and other sports people who try to reach out and help other people in need.
