Messi 'tired of always being the problem for everything' at Barcelona

Lionel Messi has remarkably expressed his frustration at Barcelona just months after looking for a move away, insisting he is fed up of constantly shouldering the blame for the club's problems.

The Argentine star endured an extremely turbulent summer as he looked to leave the Nou Camp on a free after becoming increasingly disillusioned with the club's hierarchy.

Messi was recently criticised by Barcelona team-mate Antoine Griezmann's former agent Eric Olhats, who claimed the Argentine has a 'deplorable attitude' and has overseen a 'regime of terror' at the Nou Camp.

And after Messi arrived back in Spain from his Argentina duties, the media quizzed him over the claims made by Olhats.

Messi said in a brief statement: 'I'm tired of always being the problem for everything at the club.'

Olhats had claimed that Griezmann was met with the disdain of the star man at Barcelona and claims Messi went out of his way to unsettle the Frenchman.

Olhats also dismissed Messi's push to leave in the summer, saying it was another way for the striker to exercise his power over the club.

Speaking to France Football, Olhats said: 'Antoine arrived in a struggling club where Messi has a view on everything.

'He's at the same time emperor and monarch, and he didn't see Antoine's arrival with a good eye. His attitude has been deplorable, he made him feel that. I've always heard Antoine say there's no problem with Messi, but never the other way around. It is the regime of terror. Either you are with him or you are against him.

'In my eyes, Messi said he wanted to leave to see what role he still had as a decision-making player, regarding the players who arrived and those who left, but he eventually stayed. Classic Messi!

'(He is) as good on the pitch as he is bad off it. Barcelona has been suffering for a while. There was a cancer in that club, and it obviously leaves some marks.'

Messi could be on his way out of Barcelona soon after he decided to perform a U-turn in the window just gone because the club had blocked his transfer by insisting on demanding his astronomical release clause (£625m) was met.

Messi was sensationally linked with a reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City last summer and according to the Sun, the club are ready to revive their interest in him sooner than planned by making a January transfer swoop for the Argentine.

The Premier League outfit are considering making an offer to sign Messi mid-season for a fee rather than waiting until he becomes a free agent next summer.

The report states that a bid of possibly less than £50m may be enticing enough for the Spanish giants who are resigned to losing the six-time Ballon d'Or winner in just over seven months' time as a free agent. Barca are currently fighting a debt of £440m.
