When Lionel Messi decided not to leave Barcelona last summer, a number of fans expected to see a real 'Last Dance' style campaign, at the level of Michael Jordan in his final year at the Chicago Bulls.

But, within the space of a week, they've effectively seen their chances of three trophies slip away from them. The idea of a glorious season is close to collapse.
After losing in the Supercopa de Espana to Athletic Club already, Barcelona lost 2-0 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final against Sevilla, were hammered 4-1 against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and dropped yet more points against Cadiz in LaLiga Santander.
Messi's individual flashes haven't been enough to make up for Barcelona's countless shortcomings. Not even Pedri has been able to save them and Antoine Griezmann has disappointed more often than he has impressed.
Things are bleak at the Camp Nou. The Catalans are on the verge of Champions League and Copa del Rey elimination, and the LaLiga Santander title looks unlikely as well.
On top of that, Messi's contract is up at the end of the season and, if the club can't convince him that they can build a competitive project, he's likely to leave in order to challenge for the Champions League elsewhere.

I'm not even interested in watching Barca play these days. I love the team, but they are just not worth my time. No one fears them at all. Anyone can beat them. So clueless. I hope Messi leaves so he can revive his career. Otherwise, despite my love for the team, Barcelona is ruining his career. All this, thanks to the poor planning of Bartomeu.
